Act III : Flight and Surprise at the Rented Room

Mercedes walks out of a dark back-room area. She will make no noise and her voice should startle Garrett a bit.

Mercedes: The King of Thieves lives up to his name.
Garrett: Get out.
Mercedes: I don't blame you one bit. (sounding coy) But I thought you might be interested to know-you sold the cylix to the very person I was trying to keep it away from.
Garrett: Cry me a river.
Mercedes: Oh, so Brother Adrius wasn't enough? Or the corpse stalking through Lady Calendra's cellar? Perhaps you'll like the city better filled with occupants poured from the cylix? (a distant groan sounds from outside) I think you'll find that's what your buyer has provided.
Garrett: Hmmm. I'll settle my score with the Cardinal-alone!
Mercedes: Then you'll need this. (hands Garrett a key) You'll find him in the cemetery across town. That Key goes to the gates.
Garrett: I think I'll be fine-as long as you don't help. Stay here if you like. The room's paid up til noon.

Mercedes will go to a chair and sit down. As long as Garrett is in the room, she should say a few things like, "Have you ever met Lara Croft?" "Those zombies sound hungry." "Do you think Lara Croft has a nicer ass?"

Mercedes is wearing a pouch on her hip. Garrett should be able to pick her pocket and take it. If he does, he should mutter (sound byte), "Hmm, there's a pocket diary in here full of dirty little secrets. I think I'll drop this off at the Police Station across the river."
